Anchored

Anchored fast, immovable
Would that I were free
To visit other ranges, gentle ridges, pretty hills
I'd try to banter with the mighty Alps
Just for the thrill
Yet I know it cannot be.
I've been given a distinction
To remain unfalteringly
Unshaken by the lightning bolts
Tornados and tectonic heaves
Though trekkers, loggers, miners
Come to tickle me or make me weep
Denied of basic dignity, nonetheless impervious to
Eruption, exploitation, all manner of calamity
Though skies above be cleft in two
My remaining fast
Is the path to perfect liberty.
