Fireflies

They say that I'm the valiant one
My roar reverberates
Through maintain passes cowering
The inhabitants below.
But what of tiny fireflies?
With light their radius defend
Throughout their entire lives they glow
With bioluminescence
Converting darksome summer nights
Into a magic show.
With measured days for procreation
They have no time to eat
All basic needs negated to proliferate the light.
So how can courage ever be the crowning adulation
For overlords, with guaranteed protection by the status quo?
When small, persistent ones have sacrificed
To illuminate the road.
